Our Spring 2015 Paper Shredding and Recycling event series closed with record numbers

Last Saturday, June 20, 2015, we held the last collection in our Spring paper shredding and recycling event series. Held at the Montgomery College Rockville Campus, we were a cosponsor of the NBC4 Community Shredding and Recycling Event. It was our largest shredding and recycling event yet!

In three hours, we:
  • served 3,308 cars
  • shredded and recycled about 42 tons of paper
  • recycled nearly 5 tons of cardboard boxes
  • were supported by 29 volunteers

Our Recycling Volunteer Program is open to students and adults, and is Student Service Learning approved!

Here are some of our favorite images from the day. See our complete photo album on Flickr.

Residents were able to shred and recycle up to 5 paper bags or small cardboard boxes
of personal confidential paper.

This mother-and-son team takes a quick photo break. We welcome family volunteers!

Staff and volunteers worked tirelessly, guiding vehicles through the site, and shuttling bags and boxes of paper to the waiting trucks. All paper was shredded on-site.

Our volunteers gather for a group photo. We're grateful to the many youth and adult volunteers who support our shredding and recycling events and many other activities.
